Foundation Center Databases

The AUM Library provides access to the Foundation Center’s core databases: Foundation Directory Online Professional, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, and Foundation Maps. Updated weekly, the fully searchable databases include detailed profiles of all active U.S. foundations, as well as an extensive file of recent grants awarded by the nation’s top funders. All three databases include geographic search tools, indexed search terms, and keyword searching.

  • Foundation Directory Online Professional reveals essential facts about more than 140,000 grantmakers and their funding activities worldwide. To pinpoint prospective funders for nonprofit organizations and schools, explore four comprehensive sub-databases: Grantmakers, Companies, Grants, and 990s. Use the Pathways visualization to identify prospective collaborators or funders.
  • Foundation Grants to Individuals Online focuses on grantmakers that award grants or fiscal sponsorship for individuals, especially funding for students, artists, and researchers.
  • Foundation Maps allows users to generate visualizations of funding activities, including maps, constellation charts, and pathway charts.

The databases are accessible from computers on the 2nd floor of the Library during the hours the Library is open.  Just click on the "Foundation Center Databases" shortcut on the desktop to get started!  Ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
